Welcome in the Joe Nimble
Biomechanical Lab

In our biomechanical lab, we conduct cutting-edge biomechanical research with a focus on the natural function of the big toe. Our aim is to optimize foot function and performance, prevent injuries, and promote overall well-being by studying the human foot. It's here that we developed the idea for our ToePilot® technology and conducted the initial tests during the development phase, which showed us, at a very early stage, the potential for extending the flight time of running.
13% longer flight phase
for everyone!

The Addict Pro-R supports the function of the big toe with unprecedented perfection. The relevant lever is the ToePilot®. The ToePilot® lever, foamed into the midsole, encourages runners to make greater use of their big toes during the propulsive phase, even if their foot structure is already compromised. The unique geometry and technical construction of this lever allows the big toe's tendon to be more heavily loaded with each step, thus rebuilding its natural power potential for the crucial propulsive phase.

The extent to which the new Addict Pro-R increases running efficiency is demonstrated by a pilot study we commissioned in the autumn of 2023 at the Progressive Sports Technologies Institute in Loughborough, England. In the test, subjects ran in two pairs of running shoes one after the other at the same speed: a conventional lightweight running shoe with speed-enhancing technology and the Addict Pro-R. Additionally, all subjects had – like two-thirds of all runners worldwide – a Hallux angle of -8° or more (Runner's Hallux).

The result of the test: All subjects showed a 13 percent longer flight phase at the same running speed and ground contact time. To put it vividly, this means: Based on the average number of steps and stride length of a runner per marathon, a runner in the Addict Pro-R needs about 1,000 fewer steps for the entire distance. They simply "fly" an extra kilometer.
The key to a more efficient running style lies in the big toe.

The ToePilot lever foamed into the midsole encourages runners to more actively engage their big toes during the propulsive phase, even if their foot structure is already compromised. The unique geometry and technical design of this lever allow the big toe's tendon complex to be loaded more heavily with each step, thereby rebuilding its natural force potential for the crucial propulsive phase. After all, with every step during a run, two to three times the body weight is placed on the runner's feet.
