Night start. 100 kilometers. Plenty of asphalt, even more willpower. Lord Jens Kramer isn’t just running for the win at the Linz24 Donautrail—he’s showing how far smart planning, a cool head, and the right shoe can take you.

Why the Addict Flow decides the late miles—and how Jens seals the race in the final stretch.

Before the race — preparation, planning, mindset

Three intense training months are behind Jens. A cold disrupted the build, but the base is there: solid.

At this stage it’s not about miracles, it’s about tactics. The course is mapped precisely in apps/hiking programs: waypoints, elevation, segments, target paces. Aid stations are treated as stages — fueling and fluids “from post to post,” not for the entire race. That shrinks the distance in your head and keeps the supply steady.

The motto: start deliberately conservative, ration your reserves, delay the dip. 100 km are decided in the back half — with a cool head.

Gear choice: Addict Flow due to the high share of asphalt.

Goal: efficiency over many hours without compromising the transitions.

During the race — night start, dynamics, decisions

A start into the night. The plan stays calm. When navigation glitches, Jens reels in the lead group with Manuel and Filipe. The pace is above plan, but he keeps it controlled. On the climbs he lets them go; on the descents he closes the gap.

On the long flat along the Danube, Manuel and Jens fall into step, push each other, and execute the fueling strategy precisely. The final hills feel brutal — then it’s full gas downhill toward Linz.

After almost 11 hours, Jens and Manuel cross the line together as the fastest 100 km runners.

Result: 1st place, Donautrail Linz 100 km; UTMB Index secured.

Why the Addict Flow over 100 km?

  • toefreedom: More room in the toebox for a natural alignment. In the late miles the forefoot stays capable and the big toe stabilizes—exactly when most runners “collapse.”

  • ToePilot®: A patented midsole that channels propulsion through the first ray. It keeps toe‑off clean and efficient—especially on long, flat sections along the Danube.

  • nmblaze eTPU: Reactive cushioning with high energy return. The stride stays lively without getting mushy—even when the pace temporarily runs above plan.

  • Outsole setup: Road grip for the many asphalt kilometers, with enough stability for transitions. The result: the gear keeps your head calm and your pacing focused.

After the race — recovery, outlook, motivation

The body speaks up—every muscle, every step. The pain fades. The pride stays. All the congratulations are balm after 100 km. One thing is clear: three focused months pay off, and the mind wants more. This is exactly where it becomes obvious how much consistent planning, a clean fueling strategy, and the right shoe choice can deliver.

Jens thanks Manuel for pushing side by side—real teamwork—and his circle for the support. Recovery comes first, then eyes forward: the foundation is set, the season is up to speed.

What does this mean for you?

If your long distances include lots of asphalt and mixed surfaces, you need a shoe that carries you through the late miles:

  • Stable propulsion through the big toe (ToePilot®)

  • Natural toe function under fatigue (toefreedom)

  • Reactive, long‑lasting cushioning (nmblaze eTPU)

  • Road grip for fast sections, sufficient stability for transitions
