Hello, my name is Lord Jens Kramer and I am a passionate trail runner from the beautiful South Tyrol. But until trail running became a passion, there were times full of ups and downs.
I have always had a strong urge to move and therefore dedicated myself to competitive swimming in my youth. When this was no longer enough for me, I started triathlon. I was very successful in it, became Italian champion and was called up to the national team. But then everything became too much for me, I quit everything and devoted myself to things that I preferred to do as a teenager.
Then came an event that changed my life.
I injured my knee badly and was in a lot of pain. The doctor predicted that I would probably never do another half marathon or something like that. The following year was very hard for me. I was still in pain and I couldn't even walk up a flight of stairs, let alone drive a car without having pain when I pushed the clutch. I was so limited in my movement that I wanted nothing more than to be able to walk a few meters. After about 18 months, the time had come. I had hardly any pain anymore and I started to jog a little. At first it was only about 500 meters, but it made me so happy to move again that I steadily increased my training. It came to the first half marathon and then also to the marathon. In the meantime I am an ultra mountain runner, which means that I complete runs up to 170 kilometers or multi-day races over the Alps with up to 300km.
I realized how important it is to be healthy. Therefore I came across Trailrunning24 to Joe Nimble and to Concept ofFunctional Footwear. I already knew how important it was to strengthen the toes and the foot. Therefore, I was very curious about these shoes, which, thanks to the toe clearance, allowed me to finally free myself from the tight running shoes and use my toes as an anchor for more stability while running. I was immediately impressed with this footwear, its quality and functionality. Unfortunately, my foot was already very damaged from the tight running shoes and so I first had to strengthen the original function of my toes with Toega exercises.
